The big man stayed home for a while yesterday to make sure Mom could get around a little by herself. He brought us coffee and we sat at the table for a while.
He left me in charge of Mom while he was away. I did what I could, I knew her broke foot was very tired so I held it for her. It was hard for me to hold it because, well, you know how I like to attack socks and her broke foot has a nice clean white on it. I had to restrain myself from wrestling with it.
Mom promised the big man she would not hobble outside or hobble up the stairs. I was in charge of making sure she did not do that. Well, Mom is not the easiest person to talk to when she's all mad about stuff. She was supposed to go to the place where a very nice airport is called North Carolina and now she can't. One of the people she works with that calls her boss is going to go in her place. Mom needed to give this person some stuff about North Carolina but it was upstairs. The big man was not home.
I told her not to do it. I got on the steps and hissed at her. I bowed my back and made my hair stand up. She swatted me with her crutch! I told her she could not go upstairs by herself with a broke foot and crutches! But she kept going. I ran to the phone very fast to call the big man. Then I remembered that I don't know his number. I ran to the kitchen window to see if the neighbors were home but all I saw was those stupid dogs from the yard behind us. By the time I got back to Mom, she was sitting on her booty on the steps, pushing herself up one step at a time with her good leg. I was so embarassed. I closed the blinds so the neighbors wouldn't see.
Mom figured out how to get up and down the stairs yesterday. She figured out how to go outside by herself and she called someone to come get her and take her to Walmart. The big man was not pleased. I think he is blaming it on me, but I tried everything a cat could to stop her. He stayed home this morning for a little while to help Mom get coffee. He told her he would go upstairs to her new office and turn on the air conditioning because he knew she was going to sneak up there as soon as he left.
He was right. Guess where she is right this minute? She went right up the steps on her booty and she's up there working in her office. Well, at least the big man won't be yelling at ME about it! It is not MY fault! I'm just hanging out, doing what cool cats do because you know - I am a cool cat.

I just happened to stumble across your blog. Great stuff.
Admittedly it took me a bit too long to figure out from which perspective the blog is written. (It's not your fault, though. I'm a wee bit slow.) But eventually I got it.
I'll definitely be checking back.
Monkey, this is Ink (not Sable). You've gotta do what you can to keep your Mommy downstairs or her foot will NEVER get better. Although, if she cannot walk you will always have a lap to sit in!
My Mommy told me to tell you to stand at the top of the stairs & hiss at her. (gotta run, Sable is mad at me for using her name!)
