Throne Monkey

Thursday, August 10, 2006

Now that the neighbors have to go to school and I can't have coffee with them, I usually just come in the house in the morning when the big man opens the garage. Poor Mom has been home for a bunch of days and nights now so me and poor Mom have stuff we do every day.

After the big man leaves for work, me and poor Mom have coffee in the living room and watch the news on TV. Every day has been the same thing, those TV people just screaming and crying about how hot it is. Stay in the house!

This morning they weren't screaming about how hot it is. They were talking about something bad that happened in a place that I've never heard of called England. Well, since I've never heard of it and it is very far away, I didn't pay attention, I just kept licking myself. Poor Mom was getting all worked up about the bad stuff in the far away place called England. I didn't understand it! I know most of the places she goes, and England is not one of them. I told poor Mom not to worry about the place called England. But she didn't listen to me, she called the big man on the phone.

I asked her why did she have to call him, he just left and I don't think he was going to the place called England. I was trying to tell her that, but she wouldn't listen. Then I knew why she was all worked up about the place called England. The big man's people mom and dad are there for a vacation! Oh no! I ran back to the front of the TV to hear more about it.

Then the TV started showing stuff about airports. They showed stuff about that place called Atlanta where only bad things happen to poor Mom. And the place with lots of yellow cars called New York! People were stuck in those places! They were mad! They were tired! They had to throw away their coffee! I tried to tell poor Mom that she didn't have to worry since she was grounded, she couldn't go to the airport anyway. But she stayed worked up about it.

I went to the office with her later and she was talking on the phone to the people who call her boss. They were ALL worked up about the stuff at the airports. Poor Mom was trying to tell them it would be OK but I know she was lying, because she didn't act like it would be OK.

Poor Mom kept checking the news and hobbling downstairs to the TV to see more. She didn't like anything she heard. I couldn't keep up with all her worrying. I finally had to just go lay down and take a nap.

I don't know what all this trouble is at the airports but I have decided that I don't want to go on a trip with poor Mom. She told one of the people on the phone today that if it gets any worse, they'd all have to fly naked and that's NOT cool. I can't do that because I am a cool cat.
